We are a Very Modern and Enlightened Species/ and we Can Prove it!

7 Jul

Note: A few atomic age voices from our biblical or medieval friends living between worlds and not very aware of this screaming dichotomy.

  • We are very modern. We are so modern we have atom bombs and jet planes.   Some of us most righteously refuse to sit next to a female on an airplane even though this does make travel more difficult for us.

  • Many of our moderns with atom bombs and jet planes rightly disdain to use a flush toilet lest a female or a lower caste person had preceded us. Therefore, 569 million of us dutifully defecate outdoors every day.  We are very modern and enlightened and will venture into space as soon as we can find a way to defecate outside the spaceship.

  • We, very modern possessors of atom bombs and jet planes must, of course, refuse our females the comfort and ease of the revealing clothing they might crave, and wrap them from head to toe for the sake of piety allowing only eyes to been seen in public. We are proud of being modern and enlightened and having atom bombs and jet planes

  • We too have atom bombs and jet planes and are very, very proud of our chastity standards. In order to keep our young girls chaste and modest we ceremoniously cut and slash away all the “lady parts” that would give them too much pleasure. Rest assured they will not become loose and pleasure seeking!

* We are very, very modern and have many, many atom bombs, most of which we have not dropped on anybody in ages.  Don’t think we wouldn’t if we wanted to.  We are slowly going broke paying for all that atom bomb stuff as it is very high maintenance and touchy and we hardly ever use one.  But if that’s what we need to be very modern, count us in.

* Of course we are modern, have atom bombs and jet planes and such, but we don’t really care much about them.  We like trains, I mean we really like them. In fact our trains go all over three Continents carrying away stuff we make. But what we really like are fast trains. Really, really fast trains; some go 300 miles per hour now.  And soon, very soon, can you believe a train going 900 miles per hour!  Is that modern, or what? Yes!

The Great Yin-Yang Disaster

6 Jul

The history of the human species shows a marked tendency for dominance of one sex over the other. The male Yang symbol as depicted is dominating the subjugated female Yin symbol to a perilous degree.

Yang Male (must become:  Camille Paglia)    Corporeal, Magisterial , Peripheral , Machismo

Yin     Female (simply is: Camille Paglia)    Sensate, Intuitive, Centered, Stockholm Syndrome Casualty

Every recorded moment in human history reflects decisions made and actions taken with total disregard for equal input of the female gender.  Such a fundamentally flawed relationship of the genders speaks clearly to the chaos and perfidy of human history.  Nowhere in nature is such imbalance seen in any species.

It is difficult to image thousands of generations of primate or human existence being successful under the gender imbalance that presently exists with us.  Proto humans would have come to grief and long ago failed as a species in the stern wilderness if they had acted as we do.

Only the centeredness and strong instinctive future vision of human females stays disaster from over- whelming an otherwise clueless species.  Without this stable and intuitive force, the perfidy and short-sighted opportunism of males would prove fatal.  As strong and grounded as this female element seems, the universal homicidal thrust of the dominant male hegemon may do us all in eventually.

A return to gender equity will welcome the collective voice, collective consciousness, and collective opinion of the female gender long  disenfranchised from  the major activities and decision making of humankind.

Half the Pie…and the Recipe a manifesto

20 Jun

This manifesto differs radically from a feminist tract in that while the feminists insist on a larger slice of the pie, I demand for females half the pie…and the recipe.  Robert Magill

The first true Capital accruing to humankind was future time, the use of and profit from time itself, resultant from agriculture and animal husbandry making the future less arcane, more secure and predictable. To be able at last to plan ahead with some assurance; that the crops look promising and the ewes have dropped their lambs, was profit realized in advance.

Another form of Capital was commandeered by one gender at the expense of the other.  This was made feasible by the demands of female biology which denied them equal participation along life’s allotted timeline. Males, not subject to such biological constraints, were at leisure to wrest control of worldly affairs and profit from the necessarily diminished participation of the females. An entire gender was thus placed at the disposal and usage of the other. This was a Capital victory of astonishing endurance but dubious gain.

Humankind began accruing Capital from the onset of agriculture and animal breeding in myriad ways. Trade and gain with remote others expanded the human horizon exponentially. Scarcities in one quarter were now remedied from abroad.  Trade often required travel and the new experiences this provided led to wider human knowledge.  That much of this improvement was denied females, excepting vicariously, was, perhaps, the result of deliberate effort on the part of males. The usurpation of equality between the sexes is the original tort mankind has yet to atone and may prove to be species fatal.

These beginnings led humankind from thousands of generations of more haphazard existence to ever larger settlements and the pursuits leading to modern lifestyles. This will not be, hopefully, another recitation of the violent and grasping male behaviors well documented in historical accounts.  It will be a plea, a demand, for beginning to rectify unwarranted injustice visited by one sex upon another.

It is a plea for two equal voices of humankind to be heard for the first time since perhaps the Late Bronze Age.  That’s a very long time for all of the world’s major activities to have been subject to a single gender approach. All the world’s significant enterprises have been co-opted by males historically, save one: renewing the species. Easily this is the most important event by the more important gender, but who cares? That’s just old female stuff, show us the new building or mighty machine, the new gadget, battleship, TV show, military machine, we say. We’re boldly shown all the works and wonder of an arguably lesser important, basically useful adjunct; a wannabe prime-time usurper of stage center…the human male.

Does this matter?  Is it vital that a species display balance and equality between the two sexes? If this is lacking do to misappropriation of power by one segment will all the perverse aspects of single gender constructs ultimately prove toxic? Forward projections by creditable futurists and qualified scientific observers tend to echo the scenarios of religiously oriented doomsayers and these dispirit views tend to concur about the ultimate fate awaiting humanity.

The forces arrayed against even the idea of true and functioning equality of the sexes in all aspects of human life are beyond formidable. To entertain seriously the idea of remedy to this deep seated inequity sends most males and not a few females into spasms of fury and total disregard. Powerful forces have for eons promoted this schism until it has become stock in trade for countless generations and in some regions the expression of criticism of such status risks punishment. A change from the traditional status of females would be regarded as Capital loss in many cultures similar to the abolishment of chattel slavery in another era.

There is little we hold familiar that would resemble their present forms if females had had equal input in past decision making. It would be a stretch to assume the water courses where cities are sited worldwide would feature the universal phallic skylines displayed today. Nor would the soil of the planet cover the vast military graveyard it does now. Would a society in which females were equal have condoned the monstrous child labor practices of the past or the sordid state of chattel slaves; we have no way of knowing but conceivably it would not have.

The worldly voices of the great thinkers on economy and Capital from Adam Smith through Malthus and Ricardo to the darkness of Marx and those closer to our time, lacked in common one asset when pondering the countless ramifications of human interests and market activities and the stops and starts of human variables they expounded upon. The disenfranchised and silent voice of one half of humanity is perhaps the philosophers stone they still lack to finally right those diverse equations.

If the will is found to begin redress, I suspect it will be a slow multi-generational effort in as many hospitable regions as are willing to begin the task. It certainly cannot be superimposed on a world steeped in the Capital, personal, and cultural advantages enjoyed through millennia by unequal treatment of females. We will have to learn as we go to right this wrong without chaos reigning throughout the planet.  But with nature’s help, hints and nudges maybe our better instincts will lead us to firm grounding in an equal relationship between males and females long ago jettisoned for Capital advantage.

Biology is the central tenant to consider in this effort.  Much of the distress suffered by females result from the bias and the prejudice their irreplaceable reproduction functions leave them subject to. Perhaps devising a system that creates a handicap formula will ease the performance gap over time.  By considering the demands of female biology and weighing this into the evaluation of life’s various tasks and requirements, greater equity could be established with a handicap system. If it works for golf, it may work for humanity.

For more on a possible handicap system for females see:

Clickbait is the New Opiate

30 May

I’m convinced the last remnant of integrity, The Weather Reports, have succumbed to this insidious device. That they too are now in the dreaded Clickbaiting realm and will never predict sunshine if there is any possibility of rain no matter how faint. Heaven forbid they disappoint a potential ad reader with a rain shower; so better false gloom than false brightness. Forget accuracy, sell the Weather Report ads.

We all know that most everything else on the web is baited. That any tidbit that entices a closer look is what peanut butter or bit of cheddar represents to a curious mouse; danger…warning…Bait lurks here! Gottcha’. We well know that our glance weeks ago at that riding mower or shower curtain will linger for weeks and pop up wherever we are looking.

Nothing is sacred, even the online dictionaries wait for that careless key stroke to drag you into the cookie landmines that require careful stepping. Nothing is free in Free Enterprise, it’s all been laced with terminal cupidity. When in doubt, dear fishies, look for the hook. (Hint: it’s under the CLICKBAIT.)

Yeah, That’s a Guy Thing /or You Still Think It’s Not a Man’s World?

27 May

Our early ancestors, somewhere along the timeline, lost their fur, their estrus and their fear of fire. Fortunate genetic twists had provided access to unlimited carnality coupled with a bare and luscious epidermis for increased pleasure. But instead of becoming artists of sensuality and connoisseurs of ecstasy similar to our distant cousins the Bonobo apes we morphed into something tragically different; the murder ape.
Instead of a well balanced, sensual, somewhat privileged primate we now have a naked, lustful, highly predatory but self aware creature lacking a firm rudder with which to steer through life. A creature who, unlike other super predators, the wolves, large cats, etc. has lost the instinctual intra specie restraint exhibited by such powerful others. We have become instead vicious and blood-thirsty towards our own kind. Clearly A Guy Thing

Andrew Lawrence proposed the Skyscraper Index in the aftermath of the 1998 Asian Contagion. His theory says that the world’s tallest buildings have risen on the eve of economic downturns. That is, countries that put up the world’s tallest buildings enter an economic downturn shortly thereafter.

There is a lot of evidence to back him up: 1907 panic in the U.S. was marked by the Singer Building; the Great Depression followed the Empire State Building; the Asian currency crisis of 1998 – the Petronas Twin Towers.

The world’s tallest building at present is the Burj Dubai, which officially opened on January 4, 2010. As you know, real estate prices in Dubai have been cut in half and their biggest company, Dubai World, defaulted on $50 billion.

The next tallest building being built is The Shanghai Tower in China which is 2,073 feet tall . Oh,Oh.

Puissant Guy Thing

Someplace in time an Opaque Curtain was lowered between humans, their sexual selves, the greater society and nature. I suspect it was about the time the revealed religions came to power in the East. Any progress in improving the situation will surely cause organized religions, all of them, to fight to the death to retain control of peoples’ sex lives, especially of the young. It’s been their stock in trade from the onset. The strong, tradition enhanced arm of Law Enforcement is equally problematic. But still, it’s worth doing. Nature went to a lot of trouble to invest our lives with the potential for ecstasy. Show some gratitude!

Don’t be surprised if the doomsters prove right and our way of life becomes threatened. Perhaps to see an unholy alliance between a home grown ‘Taliban’ of righteous-do-gooders and the overseas variety joining forces to save us all from ourselves. Not sure that scenario isn’t the most chilling prospect ever imagined. A Sneaky Guy Thing

The Government or other authorities mandate:

1. With whom and when one may marry.
2. the age at which one can have sex.
3. with whom or with what one may or may not have sex.
4. the amount of and opaqueness of body covering required in public
5. the degree of physical intimacy allowed in public
6. the degree and content of “prurient” subjects permitted access
7. the age at which one can marry
8. the nature of sex acts permitted
9. the regulation of mind/mood altering substances
10. prohibition of suicide
11. regulation of birth control devices and practices
12. incarceration for offense
13. execution for offense
14. compulsory military service
15. mobility control i.e. passport, driving license
16. internment control
17. compulsory school attendance
18. chattel slavery(past, slightly)
19. segregation of public toilets
20. when and what foods can or cannot be eaten
21. mandating male/female genital mutilation
Control: a Big Guy Thing

With amazing regularity we have begun each new century of our existence as a nation by warring with Muslims. At the start of the nineteenth century, the fledgling United States, still unable to pay the debts incurred during the Revolutionary War, equipped a small fleet, manned by marines, to do battle with Barbary Pirates operating from North Africa. This was our first overseas military venture but would, of course, not be the last. The results were inconclusive but served to impress old Europe that the new kid was a player and to show the flag around.

It took another couple of decades to rout these bandits from those waters where they had preyed on shipping for years. Routed they were but it cost us dearly. It was not until 1815 that our involvement ended; the due bill showed up in 1819 with our very first Money Panic. The banks stopped lending to pay off war debts, the Louisiana acquisition and to get the international bankers off our backs. Starting to sound familiar? \
A Jingo Guy Thing

There are twenty-five thousand deadly nuclear devices and appliances spread over the Northern hemisphere and more than a few below the Equator. There have been for seven decades countless TRILLIONS of Dollars, Rupees, Yen, Euros, Renminbis , etc, and millions of man hours of physicists, engineers and technicians devoted to manufacturing, installing and maintaining these dangerous inventions. All that money and time spent is gone forever. What remains is a burden of maintenance requiring even more expenditure of treasure and expertise well into the future. This requirement must be met despite whatever obstacles are encountered in the future as the choice is either to keep them maintained or suffer the inevitable consequences.
Guy Thing in Spades

In 1907 a big deal known as the Banker’s Panic irrupted. Targeted the source accurately this time for a change, didn’t they?. The bankers did it, duh. But they fixed it just fine by leaving us the Federal Reserve as legacy and we thank Grandpa from our bottoms for that one.(not)

That show was followed by a tommy-gun rapid fire series of PANICS! linked together to form what is now known as , softly now, The Great “D” Word. Now it was tiresome to say PANIC! 1930, PANIC! 1931, PANIC! 1933 etc. sounds like financial hiccups So let’s nice it up and call it DEPRESSION, so much calmer than that noisy, ugly “P!” word. And if it lasts a decade…call it GREAT.

So here we are again, folks. Since 2008. Banks getting short of dough…PANIC!…won’t lend. Sit on it. The folks will panic, too, next year? What’ll we call this one?
Guy Thing- But From Your Pocket

If, as a nation, we are sincere about wanting to solve the problem of illegal immigration we must acknowledge honestly what this entails. Among other things, to make it possible for people to immigrate legally.

The class of persons who most often take the underground route to arrive here are precisely those for whom no legal access is available. The annual quota
for impoverished, uneducated, day laborers, who lack English proficiency is exactly zero.

But this is precisely the sort of person in great demand to do the work no one else wants to do; therein the crisis. It’s somehow ok to admit numbers of physicians and engineers but those in lesser categories are totally excluded. Of course, if they manage somehow to get here the demand for their services in incredible. .

If it is not possible to come here to work and live within our system legitimately why should people respect our borders knowing jobs await them if they dare cross over?
Cynical Guy Thing

Just about everything important enough to appear in a serious historical study is disgusting. Spend a day with someone like the late, splendid, Arnold Toynbee as he details our sordid past in something like, “Mankind and Mother Earth”, and see if you agree. Wear your high boots for the blood and gore run deep.

Start anywhere, with any culture, and it is the same. Conquest and mayhem, wars lasting decades and followed by others as soon as the stink clears. On and dreadful on, until this very day and again, surely, tomorrow. What becomes perfectly clear is that power and things predominate; scarcely a word is written about people, just plain folks, especially folks of the female persuasion. What’s going on here? Can something glandular be at work?
History seems to reflect a selection process favouring one type of glandular secretion over another. There seems to be little in our past and present that is not about mankind skidding about on an exudated slime trail that is definitely not progesterone based. We are told that currently the number of male births slightly exceeds the female. If this was true historically as well, perhaps it was offset by female infanticide and perhaps females were selected based on a family history rife with male issue. A male offspring bias is seemingly operative today. Certainly this is true in China. Is part of the air quality problem choking Beijing caused by clouds of testosterone lingering.
Classic Guy Thing

It matters scarcely a whit how one views our America these days, as we are now mere ballast inside a beast; the War Forever juggernaut. Each of us a solitary cell connected to other bits of the larger organism. If our particular cell has an eye…still, we cannot see clearly. A brain…we cannot think clearly. A heart…well, you know. Our dim view of reality is limited to opaqueness in the walls of the beast. Only if our little cell is attached to where the ego grows fat do we still, in roaring hubris, pretend to be of consequence..

Rest assured, it is pretense. Michael Vlahos of the United States Naval War College estimates the total defense community now approaches 30 million. If you are not part of the warrior class, its constituents and minions, riding on the juggernaut, nothing you say or do really counts for much. You ride inside as ballast to weight the beast and add to its power to trample. If you are part of that warrior class, but you have not “seen the elephant” as the boys said during the civil war (been in recent combat, that is) you have little voice and don’t get to steer. Since Richard Nixon signed away Selective Service in favor of a standing army and thus quelling the Viet Nam war resistance movement, power and treasure has flowed nonstop to the military.

Now it is almost total. If the treasury has one dollar left or enough ink to print one, it is spoken for: to buy things that go boom. Not for food, nor clothing, not for shelter…only to defend the homeland against…whatever, whomever, wherever. Somebody will think of something that threatens us. They’re good at that. The rest of us, the “shoppers”, as we are dismissed in military circles, are out of the loop. Others know what is best for us. Recent executive power has been broadened to include the option of killing anyone who could be a threat to the implementation of this power… anyone. They will decide who is the threat.

Alas, our pious Americanism has bound us to the canon so completely we are unable to save ourselves from a War Forever machine which now qualifies as a dictatorship. There is no escape. The possibility of our defection through expatriation has been nullified with a pen stoke. The entire world is seen by the powers as potentially hostile and your presence anywhere abroad could be construed as hostile to the machine. A machine that always craves kinetic release frowns on any deviation from the credo. You are with us or, de facto, against us: ergo; enemy.

Farewell Noble Spirit of The Enlightenment / Approaching the End of Patriarchy?

26 May

Have we, in the final analysis, simply cloaked prior eons of chaos, darkness and base instinct with a veneer of sophistication? Have a few bold, courageous new ideas about reality a few centuries back, augmented with enormous natural resource and energy sources, blinded us to those lurking reactive forces?

If again back in thrall to those lesser impulses, are we, at best then, a clumsy work in progress? A dubious link between the human and the truly humane and a messy bit of unfinished celestial business pretending all is well with us.

Dorinda Outram:

“Enlightenment was a desire for human affairs to be guided by rationality rather than by faith, superstition, or revelation; a belief in the power of human reason to change society and liberate the individual from the restraints of custom or arbitrary authority; all backed up by a world view increasingly validated by science rather than by religion or tradition.”

In ever increasing areas of the world are not critical signs pointing to a rapid reversion to a earlier mode of existence? For a few centuries now, easing of daily existence, along with greater material resources, has been followed by vastly greater fecundity that permeates even remote areas. But lately the very planet seems to be complaining that for centuries we, it’s self-proclaimed stewards, have not acted wisely. As the privileged species, it seems to say, our housekeeping is atrocious; the place is a mess. Clean it up!

We have degraded, polluted, over-populated and taken up vastly more than our share of all that exists here. It has never been worse and that is because never before have we been able to take so much, so quickly, for use in the present; denying it to the future. Our legacy to the heirs, writ clearly and proudly, is, “You shall have nothing if we can help it. We are spending your Planet; go somewhere else. Maybe we’ll overlook and leave behind something useful, something that doesn’t take powerful machines to bring forth; that’s doubtful. You will, future persons, if you are lucky, become scavengers, salvagers and junkmen, because we will leave plenty of that.”

Apparently it will not be outer space to which we will then go, as many have dreamed. Like moths to a bulb we have risen grandly to the heights but also like the moth we grow exhausted (and broke) and succumb to gravity. ( America has difficulty even delivering the daily mail lately.)

On some level, mostly subconscious at this point in time, Westerners know the game is up. That the powers that be are not leveling with us. The information sneaks in stealthily that everything is different from what we are told. That things will not be returning to what we’ve known in the past… ever.

All sorts are wild and bizarre statements and actions will be the new norm for the nonce. Without information free from spin and slant people will thrash around for guidance and direction. A lot of this will be frightening for many, certainly unpleasant, but not unexpected after several generations of disinformation serving as truth. Anything we are told these days, particularly on the very best authority, best forget it and keep digging around. Somewhere beyond the noise is the truth.

Carl Jung cautioned that if we did not soon find a universal understanding of what makes us human the future looked dim. That perhaps we will see a gradual collapse of our material way of life and enter into a time comparable to the Dark Ages. The failure to examine in depth the actual nature of reality as opposed to the arbitrary hunches and dogmas currently in vogue fail to ground mankind within nature and the scheme of things. In no regard are we meeting the future united, prepared and in agreement on what we really are and what we really need. If we couldn’t fix things during good times, how on Earth will we do it now?

Part of our own dilemma stems from devotion to a aggressive, militant fundamentalism. For decades our principal activity has been the outfitting of legions of missionaries (armed to the teeth of course) setting out bravely to convert the unwashed, the unbelieving and the disrespectful, hopefully at a profit. With missions in hundreds of bases everywhere our brand of Americanism and Christian fundamentalism has alarmed the world. But as Professor Chomsky reminds us, it did all begin here. We do own it.

Noam Chomsky:” We must bear in mind that the US is a very fundamentalist society, perhaps more than any other society in the world – even more fundamentalist than Saudi Arabia or the Taliban. That’s very surprising.”

“Until 1950, there was no entry for fundamentalism in the Oxford English Dictionary; the derivative fundamentalist was added only in its second 1989 edition.” Wikipedia

We also learn these inventions, spawned early in the Twentieth Century by fledgling Divines and Dons, at Princeton Theological Seminary, were social skirmishes whose time had come. The creators were ambitious and zealous: to defend orthodox Protestant Christianity against the perceived threat of Darwinism and liberal theology. Sound familiar?

“The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie, deliberate, contrived and dishonest, but the myth, persistent, persuasive and unrealistic.”
John F. Kennedy

Naturally our militaristic minions around the world have not gone unnoticed by the locals. Religious zealotry begets more of the same and lately half the globe is seething with it. Thus far, the second – stringers, the so-called BRICs, have not caught the plague. Not yet. But then it’s the fifties in China and we all know where that era led elsewhere. The Middle Kingdom version is sort of the equivalent of hundreds of Levittowns being thrown up against a background of Berlin in the nineties replete with construction cranes to the horizon. And, oh yes, a political regime resembling the hairy hand of McCarthyism we all enjoyed so much.

A Beijing Scenario:

It’s the fifties in the Middle Kingdom and the cruisin’ has begun. Picture this scene out of “Chinese Graffiti” where forty million single dudes in spanking new SUVs cruise endlessly trying to pick-up, get this, NO chicks! Now that they produce more cars than the US the bumper stickers could shout, “What’s Good for Great Wall Motors is Good for China!” Fifty years of ‘one childness’ has produced a bumper crop of …testosterone.
Good luck with that!

All in all, the old guys who run things in Beijing should look around the world, especially in the West, to see where all this ‘progress’ might lead. Instead of benefiting from seeing where we stumbled they seem determined to end up the same way, broke, confused and angry. Nobody ever learns, it’s our charm as a species and may bury us yet.

Now males, and especially older males, have much to offer but they really should be regarded as useful idiots. Aside from certain mental qualities that enable them to stand slightly aside from life’s realities and do interesting things abstractedly, like build stuff and blow up stuff, they should never, ever, be allowed near the sources of power.

Two things, and only two, are commanded by nature: reproduction of species and death. All else is option. Males are largely indifferent to the former but appear much devoted to the latter.Too often the violent demise of some other male is a consuming focus of male effort. Now males are all right as far as we go but we have gone way too far for way too long. A thousand generations is quite enough as we, all of us, are now quite noticeably…stuck. We are stuck in the here and now; stuck in today.

The Earth has endured a thousand generations of male domination. Human life may one day soon be forfeit as a result. An innate lack of future orientation sufficient to overcome exploitation of the planet for temporal gain suggests males are unfit for continued leadership. Recorded history and mythology are testimony to the propensity of the gender to build, destroy, and kill with blatant disregard for future aspect. The male mindset that has been governing the globe lacks a clear future inclination and could lead the species to extinction if allowed to continue unabated

What to do? Well, the distaff, on the other hand, at least live from month to future month much of their lives; a big improvement over the male day- to- day plodding vision. And on occasion the femmes live several months out ahead; nine months out to be exact. In this way the future can be somewhat sensed as existing beyond now and beyond a single generation.

Is this then, a different way of viewing existence, of living along a different time line, what the human race sorely lacks as a lodestar? Orientation and planning with emphasis on the future rather than the temporal. Something that many females possess but which has been trivialized and disregarded in favor of what could be interpreted as male theft of the future for a specious patriarchy today.

There is likely no community on the planet where reversal or even lessening of current gender domination could take place in any meaningful way. In fact billions of people are expressly forbidden by theology to even contemplate such a transition. An advocacy of this notion might lead to excommunication, stoning, beheading or at least a banishment to the nearest desert for the audacity. Most theologies consist of many small truths cobbled together as one big lie; male supremacy.

So an arrangement that could possibly save the species from itself will have to await a post apocalyptic time. Not an ounce of power will be willingly ceded until civilization crashes around us. Why then is the example of a society which managed to exist far longer than any other known, and with near equal female participation; the three thousand year track record of Ancient and Pharaonic Egypt ignored as pagan and effeminate? Because it’s better to risk total cataclysm and perish than to have them running the show!

Perhaps It all started after the last ice age. The hunters hunted and the gatherers gathered. Then the gatherers became diggers and, eureka!, agriculture. Thank’s ladies! This was the real deal: civilization. Not the hobby-shop, toy and gadget world the now underemployed hunter bunch dreamed up. No this was what made it all happen. Full bellies and some leisure time courtesy of the femmes. But the gals let their lead slip away and the hobby-shop became the world.

What kind of a future will they make for us if women regain the leadership? What it won’t be is the hobby-shop, gadget and garage-band world, the phallic oases guy’s world, complete with extraordinary violence, it has been for generations. It will, early on, necessarily revert to the most basic of basics, growing stuff to eat, big time.

Restaurateur and Chef Jose Andreas of ‘Julio’ in Bethesda, Maryland was interviewed recently on NPR radio and made the most profound energy statement I have heard in years.

“But I think the most important is to remind everyone that the most important source of energy is not gas. The most important source of energy is food, because food is what keeps us – the humans – with energy. So we need to start thinking about food as the most important source of energy, because it’s the energy that keeps moving us, the people – the people of America, the people of world.

… I hope that we’re going to start taking seriously where our food comes from. Because right now I don’t think we do. And we need to start making sure that our politicians understand that the most important thing is our food, period. And food should be un-negotiable…”

We may become a tribe of earnest junkmen recycling gadgets and gee-gaws; eternally recycling for employment. The ladies just trying their best to keep the babies warm and healthy. All the while finding and setting priorities, including the amatory arrangements. If it doesn’t appear to make sense unto the seventh generation it don’t git done! And that’s not negotiable, pal

The Roman Empire slid into the backwater of history without a whimper. Will we, the ‘can do’ people, the inventors of damn near everything, the flyers to the moon; will we do the same thing? Very likely. Unless things change in a big hurry, a historical backwater is our likely destination, too.

With even a tiny clear glimpse of our future prospects America could wake out of it’s trance and begin to prepare. Slowly, very slowly, in all probability. Committees, of course, endless committees, but that’s okay. As long as they are realistic and not simply bent on returning to what cannot be sustained any longer. Hopefully the message that emerges from all this collective wisdom will be…
Stop! Stop everything!

We’re broke. We’re losing irreplaceable energy supplies rapidly. We’re despised globally for bringing it all down on everybody’s head by sheer hubris, endless war, and willful interference on a massive, Crusader like, scale for a century or so. It’s up to us, alone, if we intend to survive as a viable entity.

Where to start? Sensible priorities might help. The time has come for National Triage. It can’t all be saved. So what’s important? Food, clothing, shelter, fuel and transportation. What? That old stuff? Yep, exactly. That’s were it’s at.

Well, we can handle all that, we already do. Sure, but on credit, yours, mine and the government’s; at the sufferance of others. Those days are ending rapidly. As a debtor nation and debtor society the barbarians can arrive at the gates any day in the form of creditors demanding payback. On that day it’s all over. Backwater time for sure.

How do we keep the wolf at bay? Maybe by living for the future for a change. The future to a farmer means planting now for harvest later. It doesn’t mean waiting by the dock for dinner to arrive from farmers thousands of miles away. It also means less crop planting dedicated to cow and hog (and automobile) gullets and more stuff that goes straight to human nourishment.

The future also would appreciate us saving a little something prior to its arrival. Like fossil fuel? If we made our own jeans, bath towels, footwear, etc.etc. ourselves (we did once, remember?) we could save a little petrol for the future. Might come in handy, who knows? We could use what we manage to save now to keep the lights on, the food cold and the house warm, down the road. And put a little aside to carry us comfortably around instead of needing to walk everywhere.

As we rapidly edge toward the end of a surfeit of cheap and plentiful energy based on the consumption of irreplaceable fossil fuel, a bitter ‘ historical’ reality begins to present itself for our consideration.

For three centuries we have developed a growing dependence on highly concentrated forms of what is basically solar energy, sunlight, to ease our burdens and grow our societies. Before the general use of coal and later, petroleum, we were limited to hydro, wind, firewood and, if the hunting was good, whale oil, to help us. But what formed the basis of our walking around energy usage was horse, and human, muscle power.

Human power, beyond the personal and familial, was augmented by hired help and/or owned help. History is rife with doleful accounts of the later. In fact it was only in the 20th century that chattel slavery was finally abolished worldwide. Legal human slavery existed in the lifetime of a few elderly people still alive today.

How fantastic is a scenario predicated on the gradual lead-up to a condition of want and coercion that would lead one or more societies to consider reverting to that ‘peculiar institution’? And if conditions had so deteriorated as to make the unthinkable attractive who would take the first step?

David Suzuki said “We must reinvent a future free of blinders so that we can choose from real options.”

A resilient globe, Earth, having managed to absorb constant assaults on its integrity for eons is now beginning to show vulnerability. Human populations were not sufficiently numerous nor technologically advanced enough in the past to cause grievous planetary harm. This is no longer true. Every day we come closer to the point of no return and nowhere is seen the remedy for reversing possible terminal decline.

We are not unique, never were. We are not all good and wise and noble. Too many pictures, too many reports have surfaced of too many nasty deeds done in our name all over the place for too, damn long. Too much money sticking to the hands of too few of us and too many lies about why that is. Folks are not as ready as they once were to drink the cool-aid or believe the half-truths and absolute fictions ever so slyly promulgated; about why things need to be this way.

“Nothing will see us through the age we’re entering but high consciousness, and that comes hard. We don’t have a good, modern myth yet, and we need one.”
Robert Johnson

None among us living or dead is really fit to be called humane. The best and noblest among us is but a passive enabler of a species given to denial of future entitlement in favor of present utility. Notice the ones in those pictures with swollen bellies and flies on their eyes are never the mothers. We husband the breeders; forfeit the young…the future.

The Maidenhead Games /or Canned Goods Lotteries

21 May

So much of human activity has been solemnly centered around determination of virgo intacta, or its absence. Mankind has devoted much statutory effort, moralization, religious catechism and amorous future life scenarios to this noble quest. Mankind advancement, as opposed to Humanity advancement which dutifully includes that other gender, Them; is stalled between gleefully slaying other men and mythologizing the maidenhead, ad nauseam.

In the enlightened (read, internet unrestricted) nations, the number one source for Maidenhead Games research is online pornography.  Unfortunately porn categorically refutes the notion the Maindenhead still exists, if it ever did.  Porn also tells that no one ever says NO, has a headache or doesn’t enjoy what’s being offered them. This may seem unrealistic as a guide for Maidenhead Games information but that is what Mankind decided we will be offered and that’s that. At least until date rape becomes more epidemic and the lovelorn shoot up the rest of the schools.

The Them, in our scenario, have become the enforcers in this quest, courtesy of Mankind’s directive of usefulness.  In some communities this mandate leads to surgery, usually quite primitive, to insure temptation is limited by removing pleasure from the equation. This is known sternly as Female Genital Mutilation but locally with the participants as “the cutting”. This helpfulness in perpetuating the moral code serves also to reinforce the operative Stockholm Syndrome that makes sanity possible while still somehow fancying the master.

A friend who was an E.R. nurse in London tells of a cottage industry in London hospitals creating virgins. Many mid-eastern girls about to return home after studying and ‘learning’ abroad, opt to become surgical virgins to avoid grief, or worse, upon returning home.

Fortunately our media is rife with photos and tales of others whose Maidenhead Games are even more onerous than ours.  “How can they treat them that way?” we query, thanking the stars that they do. “If they simply did the math those 70 prizes each martyr is promised is totally unrealistic.  Martyr deaths in any decade times the 70 could soon run into millions of prizes.  Fortunately many of the prizes die intacta and over the age of consent but after that the field shrinks radically. Add in the non-believers who are intacta, if any, and it soon comes down to toddlers or ancient nuns and cloistered crones. Gasp.”

The opportunities for power play come rapidly within many aspects of the Maidenhead Games.  The urges, drives and promptings associated with the Games have traditionally been lucrative for power seekers. Civil society, tribes, religious institutions find this a handy device to work their will on people.  Humans never seem to tire of seeking novelty and diversion in the never ending search for the ultimate Maidenhead Game.

Is President Xi Modeling Kubilai Khan?

16 May
Kubilai Kahn
A phenomenon of governance that has apparently escaped the full attention of American interest is now in effect throughout much of the Eastern Hemisphere. Actually it seems more a rerun of a thirteenth century mode of governance that existed in ancient Cathay. Chairman Xi appears to be emulating Kubilai Khan, known as the Great Khan, in setting his own course of action with the Chinese people and with other nations. The current Belt and Road initiative mimics in many respects how that ancient ruler helped, rather than ignored or exploited, others. Kubilai Khan was especially sympathetic toward those less fortunate or suffering reverses. Xi, in the twinkling of an eye, historically speaking, has brought together upwards of sixty countries, many of them old enemies, under a vast tent of trade and mutual interest with China setting the pace.

For example, just one year ago according to Xinhau Press, when China hosted the Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation, the “Chinese government signed economic and trade cooperation agreements with the governments of 30 countries, namely, Pakistan, Viet Nam, Cambodia, the Lao PDR, the Philippines, Indonesia, Uzbekistan, Belarus, Mongolia, Kenya, Ethiopia, Fiji, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Maldives, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Armenia, Afghanistan, Albania, Iraq, Palestine, Lebanon, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Syria, Tajikistan, Nepal and Serbia.”

In the same time frame while the US reveled in making a large trade pact supplying military weapons to Saudi Arabia, China was in the process of delivering 600 passenger buses to that Kingdom. It would be a mistake to assume naivete on the part of Chairman Xi, or the Khan, because they demonstrated concern for others as both had exhibited strength and firmness of will when confronted on matters of policy or principal.

We seem to be obsessed with substituting armed might for trade and commerce when dealing with others nations. That hasn’t worked well; is costly, lethal and not helping our image abroad. The United States is not keeping abreast with happenings in Eurasia and Africa and may one day find itself, by default or intransigency, no longer a significant player in world affairs.

Handicapping the Race: The Bet is on…It’s  Humankind… to Win

12 May

( Handicapping: in which contestants are given advantages or

compensations to equalize the chances of winning.)

We The People of ( insert entity here) in order to create Gender Equality and Fairness in human life do hereby affirm and aver we will try to abide by this system of evaluation and handicap assignment in all issues and activities subject to possible Gender inequality.

We suspect that inequities may have started as long ago as the Late Bronze Age when civilization was new and resulted in lower status for human females and we resolve to institute a handicap formula to attempt to remedy this dilemma. Among the factors leading to a schism in equality between the sexes were the demands of female biology which gave males with more biological leisure the opportunity to begin subjugation. The following tables express our best weightings of redresses to be taken to right the iniquities presented by this biological imbalance and other pertinent factors. These categories are delineated by sex: assigned a decimal value representing a degree of handicap suggested; description of time element and other factors germane to the scoring. We strive for Equal Gender opportunity by instituting a handicap to redress inequity.

* Biology is a central tenant to consider. Much of the distress suffered by females results from the bias and prejudice their irreplaceable reproduction functions leaves them subject to.

*Menstruation

Female – 0 1.00   25% of the time, up to30 years duration

Male  + 0.75 freedom from this inconvenience

*Pregnancy

Female – 04.00 restraint in social, business and political life. Great reward potential.

Male + 0.75 Despite concern, costs; reward potential is positive factor

*Child Care

Female -0 4.00 18 years duration; therefore a factor in all other pursuits

Male + 01.50 rewards of family life without total involvement.

Tally                                       Female – 10.00              Male +03.00    Disadvantage: Female- 09 .00

Much time and energy is devoted to human courtship and reproduction. Of necessity this category follows closely with female biology issues and warrants attention for inclusion in any impartial handicap appraisal.

*Romance & Seduction

Female – 0.50 Risk of pregnancy, assault, coercion

Male + 0.25 Risk of rejection, costs

Tally                                            Female -.050                   Male+0.25     Disadvantage   Female -0.50

Health issues is not always a determinant where gender equality is concerned but insurance carriers often consider sex in actuarial tables and employers will make decisions regarding childbirth when hiring.

*Health

Female + 0.50 greater longevity

Male -01.00 lesser longevity

Female -01.00 childbearing complications

Male – 0.50 exposure to more environment hazards

Tally                                             Female -0.50                 Male -01.50      Disadvantage  Male -01.50

From the moment those half crazed sky-god seekers bound into view from steppe and desert, females were disenfranchised by heaven’s earth -bound zealots.  Scorned, feared, said to be soiled but sought after carnally, they were diminished by those pious seekers.

*Religion.

Female -02.00The fallen woman, the Virgin, still the object of every male projection.

Male +03.00 Pomp and power seeking; caster of holy spells and greater bigotry.

Tally                           Female -02.00                               Male +03.00       Disadvantage  Female -02.00

Wealth is such a universal solvent that nothing surpasses the influence it exacts on us all both personally and socially.

*Money

Female -02.00 Dowry,  primogeniture, bride price, absence from marketplace

Male +03.00 primogeniture, exposure to marketplace rewards

Tally                       Female -02.00       Male +03.00         Disadvantage  Female -02.00

This may seem a mundane issue but it’s vital and ongoing. The cause of friction that simmers, bubbles and boils over from time to time.

*Homemaking

Female -01.50 Lifetime commitment

Male + 0.75  Lifetime commitment

Tally                       Female -01.50         Male +0.75         Disadvantage  Female -01.50

Here an issue that is improving at most levels but only because females have been demanding improvement.  At the neighborhood level much depends on the makeup of the inhabitants.

*Education

Female – 01.00   still obstacles and attitudes to overcome

Male + 01.50 encouragement offered more often

Tally                      Female -01.00            Male +01.50        Disadvantage  Female  -01.00

The knotty social issue where obstacles or limits to advancement, salary or prestige is sometimes hidden, but always well known.

*Race

Female -0.50 a problem

Male -0.75 slightly more problematic

Tally                      Female -0.50                 Male -0.75          Disadvantage  Male -0.75

Often when candidates present holding identical skills and education assumptions are made on a gender framed basis.

*Perceived Skills and Aptitudes

Female -2.00 skills & aptitudes are not regarded fairly.

Male -0.25some bias regarding race, ethnicity etc.

Tally                     Female -02.00                         Male -0.25                   Disadvantage  Female -02.00

Our polity is fraught with a history of denial of participation; concerted effort to exclude females; zealous demeaning of innate abilities, violence.

*politics

Female -02.00 Marched, protested, agitated in an attempt to prevail against the bigotry.

Male +01.00 Gave black males, former slaves, the vote 50 years before any women.

Tally                   Female -02.00                                Male +01.00              Disadvantage  Female  -02.00

This is always an issue in America with scarcely any relief in sight.  Even with a decade of blacks in the highest portals of government the strife continues unabated.

*Race

Female +0.50 a problem, but not a gender problem.

Male +75slightly more problematic at gender level.

Tally                              Female +0.50                        Male+0.75            Disadvantage  Male +0.25

Here’s where it begins. Growing up with role assignment, gender favoritism, primogeniture, future expectations as catechism, in the home.

*family history

Female -02.50Reduced expectations by parents stamp females early in life.

Male + 01.00Greater expectations but also negative if unrealistic.

Tally                            Female +02.50                          Male +01.00          Disadvantage Female +02.50

A Female 22.50% gender related disadvantage compared to Male 2.50% gender disadvantage suggests a 20-22 % built in handicap for Females be considered in all Gender significant issues.

Females have been in defacto bondage since long before Pharaoh held  the Israelites in captivity and for eons longer than Afro-Americans endured the chains of domestic bondage. In fact, former chattel slaves who were male could, under rare benign circumstance, have the opportunity and privilege to legally vote fifty years before even a President’s wife was given the franchise. All other civil rights conundrums pale before the damage being done to the female of our species now and throughout human history. Our story, thus far, is one of ‘mankind’, so called, and not in any regard, of humankind.

And Then we Were Capitalists/ or

30 Apr

How a million years of equality went down the drain. Permanently?

Things went along as they always had since the beginning… until they didn’t.  And they haven’t since.  What happened?  Well two things; roughly about the same time, not in the same place, however.  Both added about equally to the status of this momentous event but one became more sinister; lots more sinister.

The more benign happening is addressed first because in itself it might not have had the same affect on our future lives.  Since females were the principal agency, that fact may have altered the outcome.  But the other was all male and not to be contained once the force was unleashed. The force, in both cases, was food surpluses, and surplus food was destined to become our first fungible form of capital.

Surplus of food, we’re talking from agriculture courtesy primarily of the ladies and animal husbandry courtesy of star-gazing desert-dwelling males.  These earth shaking accomplishments enabled control firstly of time, the future could at last be less chaotic, more predictable; secondly control of power within our own species, females treated as chattel to be controlled as such henceforth.

The latter deed was subtle and gradual at first using as agency what is now known as Stockholm Syndrome. Persons held captive over time grow to like or even love their captors. This sorry state of spiritual crippling has persisted through the ages and the actions of ‘mankind’ bear witness to the results of total male domination of the planet over centuries.

Those desert dwelling animal wanglers appear to have spent too many nights alone under the heavens and tore loose upon the world such a smiting and a smoting as to change history forever. Early texts tell of their predations done in some holy name but with personal gain into the mix. Less aggressive males fell first; females fell forever. Muscle and bronze weapons left a mark on our species that lasts to this day.

It’s been slowly downhill for our species ever since.  Sure, we sometimes put a good face on things. Nice big buildings, a great thinker here and there, episodes when peace breaks out are happily celebrated.  But all in all the history of humankind is not good.  Too, too high body counts; too, too many lives wracked with slavery, bondage or poverty for too, too long, females treated as second class citizens universally, courtesy of the gents, for generations.

The abnormal, unnatural schism in human affairs caused by one sex dictating and ordering the other without recourse or appeal has in time brought us to a crisis not to be taken lightly. Almost all segments of world societies are showing signs of stress and demonstrating a lack of clear vision of humankind sufficient to survive this modern era.  The assault directed at the planet by our machines, our vast numbers and our inequity of opportunity for all threatens survival.

The cushion represented by this surplus agricultural produce and animal product enabled one human partner, by taking advantage of biological luxury not afforded the other, to expand human influence and also profit the one partner to considerable advantage. Proto-capitalism brought great expansion to the human vista but created a rift between the sexes, a perversion not viewed elsewhere in nature that may prove fatal to our species.
